Like anything it is what you make of it. If you go there just looking for ass that is what you will find. If you go there to make connections and meet folks you can do that as well.

shyt like anything in life you get what you put into. You go to college looking to fukk and stay high you will find that. But if you looking to get educated and graduate in 4 years or less you can find that too.

And trust at them conferences aint that much fukking going on.

Let's be honest here. There are very few African Americans who have the ability to connect you to something that can make you an additional $25k + per year in a position.

Usual Black Professional = Black Person Who Has a Halfway Decent Job (Probably Paycheck to Paycheck)

So this whole "networking" thing is a little overrated. At best you meet people who are like you who you can connect with and share similar stories, experiences, etc. Think of it like a support group.

People love to meet up and after a few drinks... people def let off some steam... ain't nothing to it.

That's all meetups but guess what you will meet smart and very educated woman at those events who have better odds of being wife material than some girl on the street.

I've met several people at meetups, we still do work together and help one another out with new ventures. Basically all needs met from real estate agents, real estate managers, people in other software fields, banks or bankers who can contribute to projects, schools for hiring or funding our afterschool program for kids

This logic is so flawed. I got brothers working at top tech companies or assisting companies just from their connection in our groups. While other people are surfing the web hoping someone is going to see their resume and give them a chance.

I can cosign, I went to Black Tech Week down here in Miami a couple months ago

I think most of the women were more worried about a husband than career advancement

Breh it's not just conferences, any black speaking event or special screening brings the bw out in droves dressed like they looking for a husband.

I be showing up to some event dressed like a straight bum though(wearing sweats and joggers). Unless stated otherwise I rock in comfort.

The ratio of bw to men at some events are like 5 to 1.

They were choosing heavy, like they always do. Literally falling in my lap, following me around the convention, and even followed me to my hotel.

I was thinking about going to a black professional networking event in July. I’ve never actually been to one. But I actually want to network. I’m new to my city and want to get to know other black professionals.

So y’all are saying no one takes them
seriously? If people are just coming there to fukk, and look for men, guess I’m going to have to pass on it then.

Depends on your city and your field.
ABA and AMA events (corporate law and medicine) are legit networking for a chunk of the people that go, as are a lot of the VC and HF events.
Of course, the Boules and alumni events are a mix between pure unadulterated networking and scoping out for potential successful black mates w/ a good pedigree.

If you’re going to network, it’ll be easy, if you’re going to “meet” other people, it’ll be easy, if you’re going to date, just as easy.
Focus on what your goals are for the events, and you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.

Every professional nikka that I know goes to conventions to wild out and fukk high quality bytches.
