this. even when roman main events, it's always with a part timer. but those part timer's are big names because of how they were booked when they were early in the game. taker and brock both got their titles within their first years, didn't they? hhh by his 5th year in the company had been in a group with HBK, paired with a legendary valet/enforcer, and had epic feuds with the rock and mick foley.
braun is their future as far as big men (the same way kane and show were in the late 90s)
the shield is their callback feud they can always come back to (evolution / randy vs cena)
aj is super over and he's not getting any younger.
if they want casuals to see joe, miz, and finn as legit main eventers (mania and summerslam, and not just great balls of fire or no mercy) they have to start making them seem like a million bucks every time out. they've already failed with bray and the margin of error on shinsuke was low before they dropped "strong style" in favor of "artist"

Strowman was getting good reactions before Reigns though. He was getting over during the Sami feud when he was just destroying stuff. The only time he got CDQ reactions was early on facing jobbers, which is a standard thing.

Zayn was getting the reactions, all Strowman was getting were some "ooh" reactions from the crowds when he would slam Zayn around. He wasn't getting anything close to what he's getting know.

People were laughing and cheering when he manhandled Sami and threw Kalisto in the garbage...they were into the Stroman/Big Show match..they were into the Braun/Foley segments. Don't get crazy
