Dwight Howard will not re-sign with any of the teams beyond his preferred list of trades.

The Lakers, Rockets and possibly other teams are interested in trading for Howard.

"There’s only one team on my list and if I don’t get traded there, I'll play the season out and explore my free agency after that," said Howard to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Howard wouldn’t reveal the team, but multiple league sources believe that it is the Brooklyn Nets.

Howard also denied a report in which he suggested he felt "blackmailed" by the Magic to forgo his early termination option.

"I never used the word blackmail in reference to any of my dealings with the Magic," Howard said. “I never said that. It’s defamatory and it’s inaccurate. I know what blackmail means and any report that I used the term incorrectly is inaccurate."

Howard met with new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday and reiterated his desire to be traded as he had previously since waiving his ETO.

"This was not the first time [that I asked for trade]," Howard said. "I communicated this to [Magic president] Alex [Martins] and [former general manager] Otis [Smith] way before Friday that I wanted to be traded – months before this meeting with Rob Hennigan. That was all way before Stan [Van Gundy] got fired."

so he is demanding a trade to a team that doesnt have the assets to get him, if he dont get traded there he opting out next summer....this is beyond selfish...it hurts the Magic organization moving forward

I would certianly respect them for that shyt. This nikka is acting like a flakey ass broad. At a certain point it's just not worth the trouble. This nikka could be a Net right the fukk now but he chose to sign that extension and now his chances of being a Net are extremely slim. They don't have that many assets to give back and they aren't gonna have that cap room next year after re-signing Lopez. Magic should just take the best offer and move on.

I don't think this counts as an "Athletes strike back" situation. This nikka could have gone to Brooklyn on his own instead he willingly put himself at the mercy of the Magic. They don't have to trade him to Brooklyn and Brooklyn won't be able to sign him next year. So if this is his idea of getting back at the man, the man won.

he had a chance to opt out and rid himself and the Magic organization of this whole ordeal, instead he opts in for another year only to demand a trade soon after...shyts pathetic..Magic could have decent players in place and be moved on by now
