Never knew why scoring titles were given on a PPG basis and not total points scored. I think this would be his first scoring title if it were done that way.
Player A: 30ppg and played 70 games = 2100 points
Player B: 29.5ppg and played 80 games = 2360 points
Player C: 29ppg and played 80 games = 2320 points

but his point is actually accurate.. the one who scored the most point is the leading scorer
so to say.. we are missing a category...but PPG leader and total point leader sounds off.

What are you talking about? Bron has a scoring title already. Under my rules his previous scoring title would go to Kobe, because Kobe scored the most points in 07-08. He would also have the scoring title in 02-03 because he scored the most points that season. Kobe would have 4 scoring titles to Bron's 1, instead of 2 to 1. The person who scores the most points should get the scoring title for the year. It would incentivize players to play more games during the regular season and not take off to protect a per game average.

averages per game just work out better or easier for discussion especially when comparing different years. you can give credit to both the ppg and total points leader for their accomplishent, but in this instance as a scorer i think harden's 30.4 ppg is more impressive. while they may not look at things on a per game basis as much in other sports it does come into play when comparing longevity vs dominance or seasons of different length.
