I used to help guys in Twin Towers and Central Jail get their GEDs. Even the chance to be learning something again seemed to mean a ton, well before they even got close to finishing (a lot of them had been dropped out since forever and always didn't give a shyt about school).

This is God's work that Lebron is doing. :myman:

If it's so easy, why the hell isn't everyone doing it?

Acts of kindness like this makes me want to give more. He is building up families and helping marginalized people gain access that is generally denied - inspirational and admirable. Maybe the parents can get a post secondary education as well.

I have a suspicion that Bron is planning for :flabbynsick: years ahead. He may pull a Ronald Reagan after retirement, become the NBA Commissioner one day, then governor of Ohio, and eventually POTUS.:pachaha:Ok perhaps I am being extra.

Kobe has a whole foundation trying to stop homelessness, why do you dumbasses have to compare everything? Lebron is doing a good thing, focus on that.
I was thinking the same thing. Kobe has his own charities that get no sort of media attention. Kudos to LBJ for being a standup guy, but this "Kobe what are you doing for the community" narrative seems off.

Not in Akron though:mjpls:

He's said nothing about what's going on in Ohio....I wish he would speak out, because one day Akron is gonna be as bad as Cleveland/EC if he doesnt use his power to get the youth in check. nikkas is getting fukked up out here:snoop:

Did you know that school that you're referring too...that 8 out of every 10 students are white?

I know it's his bread, but I hope one day he also tosses some money to help out Firestone also. That's pretty much the "black" HS in Akron.

SVSM doesnt need help, but he's always giving them more and more, while Firestone is left for dead:wow:

Sounds like this is straight outta the LJFF brochure:heh:

But true:ehh:

False. They didnt even get together until LeBron was a Senior in HS....before that he was dating some white chick:yeshrug:

:blessed:

He used to be a "c00n" as yall say, but we all were at one point. He loved them white girls at SVSM:shaq:

50/50 imo:manny:

:heh:
He dated a White girl in HS? I won't hold that against him, because I have nothing against IR dating. But this whole post was truth serum. Assuming you're an Akron native, you seem to be the eyes and ears down there. You feel LBJ isn't doing enough? Just a simple question...

Don't throw Melo in there he got a community center in the middle of West Baltimore, builds courts in NY, baltimore and Puerto Rico.

Plus he actually marched with the people of Baltimore demanding justice for Freddie gray.

Tell me another pro athlete out there marching, nikka Melo didn't give a fukk what white people or the media thought.

When they hemmed Melo up for that stop snitching shyt, the baltimore city police told Melo to do a public service announcement on TV supporting the police that nikka said

:camby:

Don't disrespect the realist nikka in the league breh
Dang....Melo's a real one. It takes balls for a current Black athlete to actually be out there with the protesters. But I wouldn't be surprised if some posters are like "Puerto Rico? Why's he building bball courts for them? What a Boric00n!!"

It's interesting how people gain an eagerness to learn, once they're locked up. It's like learning and studying is their key to mental freedom and stability while being locked in a cage for hours on end. Like they took school for granted when they were free. It's like any contact with the outside world(mentally through reading and scholastics) is a release for them it seems. That solitude gives them quite time to study, as opposed to all those distractions on the streets when they were kids.

Lebron finally realized he will never surpass MJ on the court :mjlol:

So might as well be known as the better human being between the two. Which is not that hard to accomplish considering MJ has been known to be a douchebag from time to time :mjpls:

Ima Cleveland native, but LeBron's rise to fame (2001-2004 in HS) happened during the same time when I was living in Akron & attending the U of Akron (2001-2004). Plus my sister has been living down there since 2011 and of course my close homies from college...so Im in Akron at least 3-4x a month.

King IS doing enough, Im just saying I wished he used it in a different way. Instead of giving money and helping SVSM only, I wish he would spread the money around to all 3 HS (SVSM, Ellet, and Firestone especially since majority of black kids go to Firestone). Also, I wish he would talk to the kids in the hood there, because he doesn't. Giving away bikes and shyt like that is cool, but those young kids need guidance/leadership/mentorship...and who better to start a program for lower income families/kids than Akron's own King James who made it out the mud himself and can relate to them?

That's all Im saying. He does more than a lot of people, and what he did for SVSM is amazing, but he's not "Jim Brown" involved in the Akron black community like the media/press release would have yall believe.

There is always somebody going to bytch about something. It's just how Americans are. I can't name any other athlete trying to help out more the Bron right about now. He is no Jim Brown, but Brown was more of a focal "hands on" part in the black community when he retired.
