:damn:

if the Broncos release Russell Wilson after June 1st 2023, the dead cap would be:
2023 - $39 million
2024 - $68 million
Awfully tempting for a new regime to consider Russ a sunk cost and just move on from him.

You can't release a qb that you gave 161 mill guranteed and traded two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and tight end Noah Fant after one year

Also Hackett isn’t the one who put this roster together

Where’s the smoke for Paton?

True but $$$
payton and fangio are tied at the hip

Money changes thangs :blessed: plus new ownership
I think Payton ends up with the Chargers and Herbert. If Russ wasn't so trash this season, I could have seen Payton taking the job. Plus, they've already given up picks to get Russ, I can't imagine them wanting to give up more to get Payton.

Sean payton and vic fangio prob
waltons got that bread to pay him whatever he wants

I would assume Payton wants a younger QB and Denver's DC seems to be a good young coach, hard to imagine they'd let him walk to hire a guy they just fired.

Yeah, Hackett was the problem.

Head coach 1st year on the job. His starting RB goes down for the year (Javonte Williams). His backup RB (Melvin Gordon) can't go 2 weeks without fumbling the football. One of your more reliable WRs gets hurt before the year even begins (Tim Patrick).

You have one of the worst quarterbacks in football this season who holds onto the football WAY, WAY too long.

If anyone should be fired it's their GM George Paton who made arguably the worst NFL trade of the last 20 years.

This Denver pass defense has been elite for most of the season. If they had even a moderate quarterback -- I'm talking Matthew Stafford or even Andy Dalton...this team is in the playoff hunt.

That's how awful Russell Wilson has been.

Edit - I mean sure. Maybe Hackett isn't Belichick. But it's not like Hackett was the one holding this team back this season.
