My belief is, if you fire a coach after 1 year on the job, then the execs and general manager needs to be executed on the spot as well that co-signed this. Suffice to say not all will happen, but that kind of fukk up isn't just on the head coach.

Also doesn't help that the Walmart Fam are the new owners.

Sean payton and vic fangio prob
waltons got that bread to pay him whatever he wants
Why would Payton hitch his wagon to Russ tho? He looks done. Out of shape, looks bloated, clearly isn't running the offense...how do you fix all that while also bringing him back to earth? IE no more having your own personal office in the facility.

You can't release a qb that you gave 161 mill guranteed and traded two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and tight end Noah Fant after one year
Sunk cost, bro.

Unless a team can figure out a way to get Russ to play better, it's over.
The money is gone anyway.

They have a $107 million dollar dead cap hit if they release him this offseason. They better figure out a way to make it work.
Bench him.
Draft another QB or try to pick off a decent-but-not-great bench guy off another team (Brissett?)
Then cut Wilson next year -- either at the end of the season or mid-year. Whenever the cap hit is less horrible.

It's not going to make the Broncos a powerhouse. But with that defense all you need is a guy to keep you in the hunt. Wilson can't even do that right now.
