It's because people weren't doing this dumb shyt until very recently. Hakeem was great and no one ever questioned that. No one was shytting on him for all of his first round exits. If today's mentality existed in the 80's, Olajuwon would be a loser who only got rings because Jordan took a break, Barkley would be a cancer that you can't win with, Bird would be a loser that can't repeat, Reggie would be a p*ssy who doesn't belong in the hall of fame (ok, that one is true) but you get the idea. Basketball seems to attract a lot of mildly retarded spectators.
I think it's ESPN and the be like Mike campaign's fault. They raised 2-3 generations on highlights and flashy play, comvincing young fans that the other stuff doesn't matter and only giving Mike credit for Chicago winning and ignoring all context. Kobe stans are really just the mutated offspring of the Jordan stans ESPN and David Stern spent 1984-present day trying to create.

I think that one in the white jersey was game 7 of the conference finals in 2013. I was there and legit thought he was gonna hit his head on the rim he got so high up for an alley oop. He was literally Rob Gronkowski sized with this type of speed and explosion and lift. That's just not human.

He got about 3 inches and maybe 10 pounds on Gronk with Megatron speed. LeBron would be a cheat code in the NFL

Everywhere...You never there.
Lebron is pretty tall so it looks like he's jumping high no matter what. Before in his early 20s his head was always at the rim :wow:

that was one of he more notable signs of his gradual decline... when his head stopped being near the rim.

still an freak of nature. one of the most, if not the most, physically gifted player the game has ever seen ...

Lowkey this whole "killer instinct" narrative re Mike/Kobe/LeBron reveals not only the publics limited basketball knowledge but the box society puts you in as a man

I remember watching that game live :mjlol:

It makes no sense how athletic he is and was.

He was still doing wild shyt in Miami, but yeah he can't do those things anymore. The fact that he was able to for so long is incredible. Hell with as many miles as he has, he shouldn't even be this good.

I have linked this a few times since it was uploaded to YouTube:

Yep and i hate this shyt because the media poisoned the well with this bulls shyt talk. Outside of Mavs series Lebron has always shown killer instinct.

Second of all the hoe ass media is the same folks who dogged MJ out when he was young for not passing the ball in crunch time. But two decades later would dog Lebron out for passing the ball in crunch time.

Remember the media were the ones that said MJ was a ball hog and needed to play more like magic and bird. The media also were the ones that dogged out Mcgrady, VC, AI and Kobe (once Shaq left and he couldn't get out of the first round) for being dudes who scored first and passed last. They even hyped up white foreign players for making the right play on the court.

Suddenly once Lebron comes into the league and is basically a pass first or make the right play type of player.....that way of basketball isn't the way the media wants it's players to play.

The most sad part of this shyt is fans fall for this bull shyt all the time.

Not only that......Miami treated dude as a rental car. Few maintenance games off. Trapping defense which wore him out every season and never getting physical big men to help him rebound.

That is why never tripped when he left Miami. You can tell that they knew he wasn't gonna be there long and that is why they treated him like a rental car from Hertz.

Anyone that rents cars knows that folks treat them cars like shyt and that was how Lebron was treated physically.

So with all that it is amazing what he is still able to do. But he is highly skilled and being skilled and or having great teamated can help cover up physical decline.

I still don't think he's 260 though.
Seen him play many times in person and randomly, too.

Perhaps his bone density is higher than normal or some shyt - which might partly explain the injury-free part.

His athletic retention at his age/minutes is crazy.

The foundation of his athleticism is Speed and 1-step leaping ability. His first couple of steps in transition are just better than everybody else. Even now when he takes off it stands out.

The 1-step leaping is most critical though. Him being a natural 1-foot leaper allows his speed and size to overwhelm at both ends. Cats dont realize how infrequent you jump off of both feet in a basketball game. If he had to slow down and gather to reach max vert (which is required to jump off both feet) he wouldn't look like a damn comic book villain athletically out there. All those chase down block on D and crazy layups would be gone.

Him being bow-legged and slew-footed gives him great balance when he lands. Add that along with his gate/running style...he runs on his toes as opposed to his heels (which is more stressful on your joints). So add this shyt up..

1. 1 foot leaping (allows him to jump with ease while running full sprint)
2. running style less stressful on joints
3. slew-foot/bow-legged (reduces awkward landings)
4. protects himself when finishing (he's missed out on a lot posters by double-clutching w/ layups instead of dunking)

He's 268. He was 285 in Miami for a year or two
