So if you were trying to relate baseball's challenge system to football's you'd need to point out a time where a coach challenged a specific part of a play and in the process of reviewing that they pointed out something completely unrelated to what the coach challenged.

Coaches Challenge in the NFL has been around since 1999. It wasn't until 2011 and 2012 respectively that scoring plays and turnovers were automatically reviewed. Which means we had 11-12 years where those variables were reviewed whenever someone brought up a challenge.
