:umad:

i haven't made a "dap worthy" post since the Superbowl, but i get daps everyday for dropping jewels. you just made long-winded posts and think you're respected on here.

Stop trying to derail a good thread about knowledge and intellectual discussion, something you obviously know nothing about:mjlol:

You do realize your first sentence contradicts the rest of your post? :ohhh:

I'm still waiting for the "group economics" crowd to explain how they are going to spread that philosophy in the Black community:sas2:

The reasons people think what they think has a psychology behind it, nature and nurture, and White people control AA's psychology :yeshrug:

where's the contradiction? another black wall street is not going to happen. right now, our biggest problem is ourselves.

Bullshyt white historians put that garbage in literature without actually researching the rebellions...in fact, I argue that THEY WERE NOT riots, meaning they were not spontaneous, unorganized, and non-collective behavior...I argue that Watts and Detroit, etc. were REBELLIONS because they had a specific objective, collective action, and they attacked areas of social injustice in an organized manner...white scholars called it riots to take away the power of the demonstrations...they were rebellions against socioeconomic injustices, capitalist oppression, and white violence against blacks...they were coordinated and collective. That's the real deal.

The historians also tend to forget that one of the catalyst in the 92 riots was the shooting of Latasha Harlings.

every single day, i drop pro-black jewels. :mjlol: @ me being anti-black. you make excuses for black failure. i try to excise the causes of black failure. that is the difference between you and me. your approach hasn't worked for decades, but keep thinking you're making a difference.

:myman:you know your history breh. But they didn't forget Latasha...they omitted her on purpose because they want the literature to promote the idea that blacks just went insane over one particular decision, like it was spontaneous and uncivilized and not a rebellion of resistance that had been building over time based on a number of incidents

breh, you can repeat that lie until your face is as blue as your lips. shyt won't amount to actual truth. the fact of the matter is, I am in the trenches. you're in a side office at some college, pretending to be a scholar. i am actually out here building with black people. you're on the coli, pontificating and raising your blood pressure.

let's get this thread back on track after bytch ass Kermit derailed it.

This video in the OP is so important to who Malcolm was that many people tend to marginalize...Malcolm was BLACK FIRST. No matter who he was affiliated with, he was BLACK FIRST. In his final years in the NOI, while the NOI was telling Malcolm to diss the NAACP and other groups in Harlem, he ignored their requests and called for all local chapters of different groups to build socioeconomic strategies for progress...he went into the community and witnessed black local actors organizing themselves and working in collaboration with multiple groups with multiple ideologies; it didn't happen often at all, but Malcolm tried to do this everywhere; Malcolm said skip the bullshyt, we are BLACK FIRST. That's the greatest component of his character and why he is one of the greatest ever. he recognized unity and agency were the only things that could break oppression. More than anything else, this is what made him dangerous to both the NOI and the Western capitalist world.

I see can where Brother Malcolm is coming from. But what do you think whites would've done if we started pooling our money together & only doing business with our own? I could see another Black Wall Street happening back then. They didn't wanna want us in their establishments but the minute we start doing for ourselves is the day they want to dismantle that. It's a catch 22 situation to me

I need to do more research on the Black Wall Street ( and maybe a poster can chime in) but did the brothers who had the BSW jumping, where they only doing business with blacks exclusively? If that is the case, Whitey aint gonna let the black man have a buffet without at least having a seat at the table for a snack or dessert (sadly) What Brother Malcolm said cant be more truth. The only tweeking I would say is at some point, you cant 100% shun whitey. History has shown, their wicked ways cant allow for the black man to prosper within his own community without white inclusiveness

From what I've read & saw on that PBS special, that was the reason why whites burned it down. I'll post an excerpt from the first article I found:

http://iw.newsbank.com/iw-search/we/InfoWeb?p_action=doc&p_theme=aggdocs&p_topdoc=1&p_queryname=0EB421A4BA55308E&p_docnum=1&p_sort=YMD_date:D&p_product=AWNB&p_docid=0EB421A4BA55308E&p_text_direct-0=document_id=( 0EB421A4BA55308E )&p_nbid=M73J59DTMTQwMTU2MzM2MC4zNDM1ODA6MTo1OjEwMzAx

"Shut out of white commerce, black entrepreneurs built their own downtown along Greenwood Avenue. By 1920, Greenwood was lined with dozens of thriving businesses."

You're absolutely right about them them racists wanting a slice & Blacks back then pretty much giving them the finger & rightly so. Then they saw an opportunity & took the community out & rebuilt it for themselves. While looking up this info I found an article I haven't finished reading. Definitely worth a look:

I feel you. This is why we need to look at owning buildings/land vs the business...both if we can.
