For all the shyt gamestop gets, Amazon is not much better with their trade offers. You also have to wait a week to get your gift card.

Sell on ebay/amazon? Potentially net more profit but have to deal with eBay/Amazon, USPS and PayPal with potential fraud as well. Oh if the customer lies for whatever reason they will side with them and you will have to pay return shipping as well.

I've proven this time and time again. Is it really worth the extra trouble for the extra $5-$10 you net on a game? Now clearly if you are dumping a whole collection...yes sell them on your own. 1-2 games? More often than not it is not worth the potential headaches dealing with BS. Fraud is VERY high in the video game market on eBay. Someone bought a 500GB xbox 360 on eBay only to swap out the hard drive and return it as "not as described". eBay credited my account after I bytched for the difference and I couldn't even leave a negative to the buyer.

Like I was sayin GameStop provides a service. They take that game off the customer with minimal questions instantly and when it's done then it's done. Like you said the extra $10-$15 you might net selling the game on your own usually isn't worth the risk involved to get it. eBay is a con-artists playground.

Why did he actually sell it though. I thought he was just gonna ask how much it was and bounce but he actually sold it? At least whoever buys that so called used copy gonna save some money.

shyt, they'll probably rewrap that and sell it as a new copy...

They aren't crooks. Buy low and sell high is business 101. Companies like Apple and Samsung make cellphones for less than $200 and sell them to us for $700+ about 3x in profit of what it cost to make. Where's the outrage there?

Apple and Samsung put time and money into developing & producing the stuff they sell you, even though markup is high.

Gamestop does nothing. They just sit and wait.

they give you the convenience of not having to create internet listings to market your game and then having to actually ship or meet up with some stranger to complete the sale...

A lot of this is just uneducated consumers as to how the business works. Listen I get it, buying NBA 2K17 for $60 and then getting less than half of that in "store credit" sucks, but it is very easy to play the game with gamestop.

So let's break it down for people:
BUY NBA 2K17 @ Walmart - $60
Trade NBA 2K17 to GameStop - $30 (Pro Member value) and ask for it to be thrown on a gift card
BUY any $55 Game you want @ Gamestop.com - $40.70 (Pro Member Discount + 16% CAG DISCOUNT)

Total Cost out of pocket for playing/owning 2 games = $70.70 (before taxes)

So you are looking at about a $10 premium before taxes to swap out your undesired game for another one. What exactly is the problem here? Like I have stated before, maybe you don't want another game now? Whatever...you are "down" $30, but if you play it smart and take advantage of those deals or the usual B2G1 sales going on it really isn't that big of a deal in most cases. In fact, Gamestop also gives 20% extra on titles from time to time...ironically 2K17 right now.

Some cases? You have a point, but not this one...especially considering it is a sports title. GameStop is taking a huge risk spread out across their entire network on a title that is inevitably going to the trash or be sold for $1 years down the line because of it's annual refresh.

man, lets be reality. you're a moron if you are still using gamestop. besides craigslist, you can use apps such as wallapop to sell that shyt right from your phone.
Nothing wrong with gamestop, but they really do need to start a gamersclubunlocked type of program quickly.
