I just remembered that a good friend of mine’s parents divorced, because his mom spent more time at church than she did at home with his dad.

I’m sure there were other underlying issues but as far as I remember, there was no infidelity on either side. It’s frustrating when a woman makes church her whole identity.

I’m Christian and so is my s/o. We take our faith seriously but we don’t allow the institution of church to dominate our social life. I’ve seen what damage it can have on a relstionship.

Yea, I agree, you definitely have to take care of your relationships outside of church as well. probably more so. Most people aren't gonna spend majority of their life in the sanctuary, but its important that people are showing love 1 to another. I'm not sure how it just became about judgement and "Holy fiya bun dem babylonians". Where's the grace, mercy, and patience in some people?

Something like this happened in my family too and even some of the most ardent believers in my family were like “nah, that’s TOO MUCH church.”




Church is about fellowship and community.



You don’t have to be in the building to be a believer. You gather with other believers wherever you can.

It’s the same reason most of Dr Umars followers are women. They tailor the fairy tales to women and their interests. Black men in general believe in a God. But we are more practical and do not have to sit up in a church regularly to get that message. Women need that weekly church pick me up more than we do


If you ever listen to a Umar lecture is basically a sermon. He talks with the same cadence as a pastor and he does all the same things they do except pull out the Bible. Ironically he is jealous of the black church and the money they pull in because in his mind that money should be coming to him. He has specifically said this.
