Some of the things he said I understand. He said anyone can be a manager now, let your starter throw 100 pitches and take him out, right v right, left vs left. Setup man and closer.

He knows that bringing attention to the sport will bring him and everyone else even more money. Sports has an entertainment side that baseball could tap into with a few tweaks.

I think part of the problem is that there is no way to penalize baseball players..

In the NBA and the NFL there's penalties or showboating etc. But you can't just throw someone out the game in baseball for talking shyt..
So because there is no penalty system in place they want to keep the game as plain as possible..

If you talk shyt to the Umpire you can get the :camby: from the game.

Same if pitchers get carried away with throwing the ball at people.

IMO if they let Batters celebrate the Umps will keep the unwanted fukkery to a minimum :manny:

no one should be penalized for doing something great.

Y'all are missing me... I agree players should be able to celebrate/express themselves...

Im just trying understand the rational behind old heads wanting to keep the the game emotionless, and it goes back to basically them wanting to have control over players. Same rational behind the "unsportsmanlike penalties" and technical fouls in the NBA

U can get kicked out of the game for talking to an Ump... But no players.. So basically people are afraid of the unknown happening. Theres nothing stopping a player from hitting a home run and going
HUMPTY.0.0.gif

to the pitcher

So they're rather just say fukk it.. "no celebrations at all"

Im just playing D3vils advocate here

Baseball could use the buzz. The old guys vs the new kids is actually a good storyline for them.

Lol for the fans talking about do what you want, but there are consequences....

I would love for a lot of top players to start to getting beaned and injured. Would a pitcher try and hit ALL the hitters though, lol. America's Pasttime would be the dirtiest sport ever.

Isn't the obvious reaction to a hitter stunting on your pitch.....to just strike them out the next time? And if a pitcher strikes you out and hit you with a :camby:
The reaction should be to knock that pitch out the stadium next time.

Lol they quick to go violent.

It is about "controlling the players", but it's not exactly the same as that.

The ONLY reason it became (yes "became" - it wasn't always like this) code to not show anybody up
is because of players taking too long during such and slowing the game down. That's it.

Back in the days before baseball was on TV and chit and people ain't had chit to do but get dressed
up in suits and spend all day at the ballpark, Babe Ruth was pointing to the wall and watching it
leave the park before he even started trotting the bases. Now that baseball ain't the "national pastime"
and people want a baseball game to be less than 3 hours, they frown on players wasting time -
especially being antagonistic. They may even have a point.

That said, it doesn't take that long to flip a bat or look at a batter after you strike him out.

You think baseball already isn't the "dirtiest sport ever"?

nikka you're a fan of the team with a racial slur as their nickname. :childplease:
thats the point you nincompoop. :snoop:

The NFL is basically the Republican party. Even more than MLB. The difference is that I am not myopic and indeed aware of that.

Why you think Peyton Manning wont have to answer for shyt? Dude is this eras John Elway in that he is a staunch Republican in a league that caters to that.

Here's the thing:

- this Bautista moment was going through my head when I read the OP.
Jose could do that if he wanted, who could stop him?
He even did it against my team. You know what they did?
They beat him. Problem solved.

- there were a handful of moments like that in the league last year.

- even Bryce himself says there are other players comin' up playing like this,
so what does he mean "you can't express yourself"? Just do the chit...

In that case yeah nothing happened. But Jose has been hit a number of times for his flips/staredowns. Look at his vs. Darren o Day :russ:
