So you just rode through the highways. NJ is know as one of the most suburban and developed states in the country. Its basically a series of small towns.

Newark is just overly dusty. I work there and was looking at an apartment over at Spring Street Commons. It was between that and another place in Jersey City. Luckily the leasing office for the place in Newark was so incompetent, the day I was scheduled to tour they wouldn't pick up the phone so I ended up going with the Jersey City apartment.
