who the fukk raised you?

Clapton fukking sucks. I think he’s the most overrated guitarist of all time. Jimi all day.
Because he's a racist c*ntThe premise of this thread
It's downplaying Jimi talent..
Yet
-Clapton played with HIGHLY respected Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce
Why not downplay Clapton?
Or Randy Rhoads for working with Daisley and Kerslake
This shyt would be like
"Eh Jimmy Page was good but his drummer was BETTER"..
No one does that bullshyt.
Give credit where credit is due...
No one rates Noel's bass playing highly either..dude was nothing special and Jimi grew tired of working with him.
Actually, he did have a black band. Look up the band of gypsies, and its arguable but id say that voodoo child and purple haze are more popular than all along the watchtower
never seen anyone try to paint him as a solo artist either, his guitar playing/songwriting/character just stood out to the point where his bandmates recieved little to no recognition compared![]()
Dude, this might be the dumbest thread of all-times. (And that's saying a lot coming from The Coli)
Dude, Jimi is considered the GOAT guitarist by damned near everybody of every color.
Mitch Mitchell, thought great in his own right isn't even considered a top 10 drummer in rock. I mean, you got like
Bomham
Moon
Watts
Baker
Grohl
Copeland
Peart
Chamberlin
Carey
And like a ton of drummers who are more regarded than Mitchell
NO he wasn't. He was playing for YEARS before he started playing with the Isleys.
He was imitating Albert King and Buddy Guy and all those guys before he was with them.
Yessir,
Clapton is all basic ass pentatonic scales run through an overdriven amp. Tbf, Jimi is all pentatonic scales too (as is most rock guitar), but his playing was way more interesting and inventive than Eric Clapton. I listen to Eric Clapton and get bored. Can’t say that about Jimi.I love Hendrix too, but let's not get crazy here.
He did some historically great shyt with Cream & Derek & the Dominos
The early history of rock had many black musicians as early pioneers..hint read Little Richard and Chuck Berry.
And blues is the direct ancestor of all modern American music forms.
Blues music is the root, rock, reggae, rap, funk, grunge, etc are the fruits.
because jimi hendrix revolutionized the electric guitar more than anybody before him.Exactly, all the black people who white people like to overlook for Jimmy. Why?because Jimmy was more relateable to white people, and had more white fans for all the reasons the OP said. I don't give a damn about Jimmy Hendrix, but I respect his contribution and that other people who know about that genre. But it is weird that he gets so much respect as an influencer while other blacks in rock and roll do not. Jimmy Hendrix somehow is allowed right out at the forefront as one of the faces of rock and roll?any other black people get that treatment
I'm asking because I don't follow rock and roll so I could be completely wrong, but that is the view from the outside looking in.

he's probably the most important guitarist ever. he completely changed how people approached the electric guitar.
Lol you don't read music threads about The Beatles on the coli then. People constantly claim Hendrix was better than The Beatles because he was black. I wanted to remind them he wasn't even the best musician in his band. I agree with you, lol and I did know that at 12.
@MansaMusa come on down.
