Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
If they can get Hezonja I think they can squeak into the playoffs, that has to be Stan's number 1 guy right now, he can mold him into a play making wing and will give him free reign to develop.

I'm still :dead: at the thought of the entire Central division making the playoffs next year.

It's probably gonna happen, or get really close, central is hard body now.

I don't think it will to be honest. I think the gap between the rest of the division healthy and what Detroit has is far apart. Unless SVG works some magic this summer.

Washington, Miami, and Atlanta.

Magic could be ready to break. Boston, Knicks depending on what they do in free agency.

It's going to be tougher to crack the field.

The Knicks have to draft WCS if they plan on signing Monroe.

I don't think they do...While they do have multiple holes it may be optimal to add Monroe to a frontline with WCS and Melo but it is also feasible that they could just sign Monroe and a lesser priced Center and a wing (SG/SF) with the 30 mill of cap...

like
Monroe -16 mill
oquinn or Koufous- 7-8 mill...

it's only so much they'll be able to do with the 32-35 mill in cap space but I think they can get at least 2 starters and a key reserve.

They like WCS though, so why sign somebody to more than WCS would be making on his rookie deal?

Phil has never been a big fan of PGs, and I can see how he'd look to Monroe/WCS as the cornerstone of his franchise build.

Perhaps I'm putting too much faith in Stan (doubt it) but that run they had last year once they got rid of smith, and they were able to effectively run his system had them looking real dangerous. I think if Stan had the type of personnel he wants you can pretty much pencil them in. He's a better coach than what the Magic and Knicks have and I don't see them jumping over us regardless of the signings. They don't have to be better than all the other teams in the central, just beret than most of the others in the conference. Also if Drummond continues progressing with his post game like he was the 2nd half of the season we'll have a paint monster few teams in the east can deal with.

I don't know about the Celtics, they have overachieved and Drummond could have a big year, in addition to Jackson + shooting, and now they have Jennings in his correct role coming off the bench. They are poised to take a step and depending on who they draft they could have some serious talent on the floor.

That's true if he rates WCS hire than he's the pick and it will be easier to add talent around him.

It's not that I think the Pistons are horrible or that run isn't something they can't build on. If they can't finish above .500 it's going to be tough to get that 8th seed. I really think the East will be better next year.

The four teams in front of Detroit plus Atlanta, Miami, and Washington. Leaves one spot left.

It's hard to predict anything right now because the off-season hasn't started

That wing situation is still :patrice:

It looks like they're guaranteed Hezonja, Winslow or Johnson :lupe:

The Knicks have to draft WCS if they plan on signing Monroe.

So they could have the same issue's Detroit front court has now on offense trying to run two centers who can't score consistently out the paint?

That would be a horrible move. In my mind its one or the other of Monroe or WCS in NY and if WCS slips past the knicks the kings get him to put him next to Cousins which would be a great pairing for both of those guys. It would be like the UK's front court last year but in the NBA.
