if i were you id just start off what is readily available go to your local micro brewery or hipster area and look at what they have on tap and get try em' until you find out which types you like i.e pale ale, stouts, lagers IPAs etc

some well known brands are

Flying Dog


each company/brand has many types keep trying new ones and you will eventually find your taste......also buying variety cases is a good investment too

its like the difference between hot pockets and home cooking. a great way to transition is sam adams imo. sam walks the line between craft and industry. plus each type has a description on the bottle to tell you what to look for in the taste

gotta say though, even with my real beer palate i still like coors light for some reason.

I very rarely drink Bud but every time I have, that sh!t tastes way watered down. U can tell just by tasting it. It says its supposed to be 5% on the bottle but it must be around 3%.
