I love Buju but I gotta admit I feel a certain about him preaching positivity and consciousness while pushing coke on the low. I'm conflicted.
Who knows..maybe he was pushing it back to these evil cacs
Yeah plus people who know him will tell you that he can be very difficult to get along with. But yeah the coke thinkg I followed closely and his words suggest he had been doing it for a while. Plus conflict diamonds in Africa. He got desperate since he is broke .
How is he broke?
He got over 10 kids . Them payments really do add up.
Plus his shows in USA got cancelled.
God damn, blood diamonds smuggling too? Thats why its better to follow the message and not the individual if this is true.
In roots reggae music the music and the messenger are intertwined. It's not like Gil Scott Heron denouncing dope and being high as goddamn kite... the culture (I am of Jamaican heritage) is deeply invested in the lives and souls of these artists.
they set this man up so hard
yall should read the miami times article
Happy a nuh me one... same reason me a pause on the celebration same way cause i followed it closely also.. was clearly involved and as a conscious youth was conflicted same way as the above poster.
But unlike alot a people me just come fuh realize say he is a person and his music however positive should not cause us to give him the benefit of revisionist history.
Still love de old dem tune dem same way
Double post. My bad
