Thought about getting rid of my trunk load of cds but nope.. Albums are getting stripped and are disappearing completely from streaming.. CDs will come back just like vinyl did
and that's when you download or buy digital. i don't know, i think too many of yall let sentiment cloud reality. i know my dude stays listening to old shyt, but between new music, listening to multiple genres, and old shyt, old music aint getting burn like that from me. the one time a year i want to hear some old mobb deep, streaming or YT works just fine.

and vinyl "came back" as it was always around as the preferred format for DJ's up until recently when even they've gone digital, it has a unique sound quality, and hipsters romanticized it. CD's don't offer anything unique over digital, except to maybe the most serious audiophiles - which most people aren't.

Yeah, I used to have a HUGE 20 page plastic sleeve binder full of CDs....when I moved outta the crib, I left all that stuff and my mom threw it all away.:stopitslime::sadcam:

Why? And no where is fun/Interesting during COVID, but the DMV has more black people and more black culture left than the bay, can’t be worse than here.
I'd suggest you come here (ATL), but we already full as hell and I ain't even originally FROM here :russ:

But good luck on the new endeavors!

i made two collages with album covers from my fave albums, one r&b and the other hip hop. otherwise, again, pointless. i'm not going to sit down and flip through cd covers. would be one thing if this was a vinyl collection, but a 4x4 inch album cover is pointless
:smh:

I just moved a few weeks ago, going through the same thing, but I would never give up my CDs. I went through a few covers as I was packing. It's a lost art form and I can pull some inspiration for my own person work/projects when it comes to photography and video production.

CDs do offer a lot of songs that you won’t find on streaming though lol. People were so upset about De La’s streaming situation whole I’m over here able to blast their early CDs or put them on my flash drive and they them in the car. Man the music shyt is probably going to be like these tv deals soon, you know how local tv stations be begging folks to call direct tv or some other tv provider to ask them to bring their station back? Albums getting stripped, people having to re record classic songs, samples getting stripped from songs. I mean I’ve softened my stance on streaming because I’ve been put on to some good shyt because of it. It’s not fukking with physical copies at all though.

i'm ehh. i don't really listen to random mix versions of songs and shyt like that, i had a bunch of mixtapes from the early 00's mixtape era, but that shyt got stolen, so i'm over it. people like de la or aaliyah who aren't on streaming, it's not like i sit around wanting to play them multiple times a year or for a week straight, so i that's when i hit YT and get my fix. and a lot of esoteric stuff is out of print so you can't buy or stream, they're both an L.

Couldn't ditch mine, they're sitting in my storage unit though and haven't touched them in nearly two years.

I ripped and backed them all up years ago, so that's nice to have, but I struggle to get rid of the physical copy.

I say give them to someone you trust for storage, if you're not gonna keep them. You can sell them too, but if you're really not worried about listening to old stuff there's really no point. But there will come a time where there will be something you absolutely cannot find that you once had.
