I had like 250 cds. Ended up selling them all on ebay years ago for like 300 dollars when I probably spent over 2k for them. I just stream everything now too and got all my cds ripped before I sold onto a harddrive

I have a ton of CD's and I can't get rid of them. I've boxed them up in the attic and rarely use them but I just can't bring myself to get rid of them.

I'm digital usually but I buy Vinyl still and will hold onto my CD's. Even if in 20 years I sit down open up a CD read the credits and let it spin. shyt will feel so nostalgic and golden. :wow:

I would at least keep the classics and any rare copies if I were you. I got the bulk of my collection stolen back in 1998 then I built it back up in about 2005 and had to get rid of it all to move interstate. I’ve got fukk all since then but have managed to keep some classics and some rare joints like a copy of the first Gravediggaz when it was called nikkamortis. You KNOW they will come back at some point even just for collectors.

DO. NOT. THROW. OR. SELL. THEM.

I did the same thing when I was younger and I regret it to this day. I collect vinyl now but just to have those CD’s would have meant alot. They’re a time capsule and whilst CD’s for a time lost their worth, a quick check online will show you they’ve appreciated in value. Hold on if you can.

If not... I’ll take the whole lot :ehh:

CDs are still one of the best way to get FLACs and hi-res audio

Most digital retailers like iTunes and Amazon don't have audio quality higher than mp3 / mp4

Same goes for streaming (besides premium TIDAL), pirating, and torrenting. Majority is lower res audio

If you want hi-res audio, rip it from your CDs in FLAC form. That's the big advantage they have that most people still don't know about. Get that luxurious listening experience

I understand the sentiment...I just threw out about 100 cassette tapes...some I bought...others were “mixtapes” I made sitting by the radio and recording songs...some of these tapes date back to the late 80s/early 90s when hip hop radio shows came on once a week so some of those tapes had rare songs from local artists and shyt

my way to justify throwing them out was I had AMPLE time and the equipment/know-how to convert the music into MP3s but felt the process would be too long/tedious...I probably haven’t listened to any of those tapes since the late 90s...I low key regret throwing them out but if I kept them they would’ve just still been sitting there collecting dust/taking up space
