Seems like some of the ideas you have would require some kind of government intervention i.e contracts, grants, funding etc.

before you spend a penny tread with caution.... some things are cultural....

Nigeria is the second highest consumer of champagne in the world After France but i doubt there are more than 100 cinemas in the country......Nigerians just dont spend their money in the cinemas when they know they can buy the same movie on the roadside for less than 50 cents.....

my company is based in Africa so i know what Im talking about, Ive seen many people get burnt even though they had good ideas because they didnt take in cultural factors...

Im not saying its not a good idea or you shouldnt do it, all Im saying is wherever you set up do some serious research
Oh I know Nigeria is pretty much a sealed market, I wouldn't even try that place. Yall got that on lock. :wow:

I'm congolese, I'm trying to get my country to yall level. :pachaha:

That part isn't the problem. My boss is the second largest beverage distributor in the country. The problem is branching away and having capital. I have to start off small, my ideas are too massive. The small stuff is saturated tho.

If you really wanted to do it , you could do it for a lot less..........under $10,000 even under $5000, you could follow your friends example and start small and expand later on

The problem is the venue would be extremely small, I doubt it could even house 100. That sort of beats the movie experience. Im thinking about the smaller venue in the U.S, where the indie flicks and porn stuff are shown, and honestly even those would be considered large in the DRC and probably still be around 50K to build, when you include the necessities, and cost of importing negotiated movie distribution. :ld:

We don't have a Nollywood, so it would pretty much be completely foreign and import.

Ahh, I see. So he already has the government contacts that could possibly help you make this happen?

you could show a movie in any hall or very large room....

all you need is a decent projector, projector screen , a decent sound system and folding chairs......

like I said you can start small, what you have to remember is your customers will have nothing to compare it with so to them its the equivalent of an IMAX 3D cinema for us, also you will have no competition ....

where you are gonna have problems is the distribution end...

Mos def. The loan part, she said would be difficult because I am a foreigner. I could ask for a 'favor', but being an outsider, they will probably 'fukk me'. no homo.

Possible. Popcorn machines and vending machines shouldn't be an issue. When I get there I will look at various halls and renting.

Water treatment facility? Or maybe a beverage or drink supply company? Sounds costly though but could really pop off given the right country :ld:

I thought of doing that in Somalia. But a main problem with that and basically all manufacturing in Somalia (and I'm guessing Africa) is electricity. It's difficult to get reliable and cheap electricity. The last thing you want is a blackout when you're in the middle of production.

Having said that, it is profitable enough for some local cats to do it. This is the biggest bottled water company in the South Somalia:

I mentioned this in that Africa Economics group

Anybody interested in selling whether wholesale or retail consumer electronics?

Last summer, one of my close friends sister got married (we are all Nigerian). And so the fiancé was at their house playing music on one of those bluetooth portable speakers. And everybody was all :ohhh: at how dope it sounded from such a small portable device.

Recently I looked on eBay and saw that those things are making a killing.

Here a seller has sold 1000 of them. Idk the timespan it took them to sell this quantity over but At least 100 in the last 6 days. I think over the last 2-3 months

Another seller that has sold 2300 of them:
eBay.com Item Purchase History

I know a guy in China who helps people source products like these, in fact he said he could get me this exact model. And you can brand it with whatever you want. But you have to buy in BULK. Minimum 1000 units but he might be able to talk the manufacturer down to 500.

I think shyt like this could do well in Africa, just have to figure a way to get it on the proper marketplace.

I also brought that up because dude hits me up about new products that could do well, in which we could establish an early market advantage.

Idk if you guys watch Shark Tank but a Rabbi was on there a season ago and introduced some shyt called a sound bender. It's a small portable Add-on to your iPad that enhances the sound. He ended up getting a $54,000 deal with Daymond John and then they got a $2million licensing deal with some company.

I mention this because dude just told me about a new product a manufacture is making that does this but does it FOR REAL:

Wholesale price would be around $3.50 or so with a MOQ at around 10k...:patrice: yeah that's a lot but I could see something like this selling. If we don't want to sell them ourselves we could just be a middleman. Find ppl in Africa who sell electronics and/or consumer products. Give them the 10k MOQ, jack the price from $3.50 to $4.50 and you just made $10k w/o spending a dime of your own money :yeshrug:
