The last good year in hip hop imo

I think I'd agree it's the last consistent year of dope album after dope album and albums that really shifted the culture. 2001 was a good year too but not as consistent. There was something dope every month in 98 not to mention Belly:smugbond:

98 was a great year. The 1st half of my senior year :blessed:

The Nore album dropped that year too and everybody thought Canibus was gonna be the next king

LOL at least your old enough to remember. Some of these fukkboys first memory of hip hop is College Dropout

:pachaha:

Nah breh, complete student of the game. I didn't just listen to the stuff that was popping when I was younger, I went back to listen to everything I missed in order to realize where we were. So when 98 came around, which is the year I really got into hip hop, it was like mana from heaven. Then I started doing the research and history and just got knee deep in everything, especially Rakim and KRS. I always feel like if you're going to talk about something intelligently then you need to know its history too, not just its present. A lot of these cats think the shyt we're getting now is the greatest stuff ever without any context and when you do the knowledge, you see what we have now isn't anywhere close to the best the genre has to offer
