Nobody hates kendrick, just the idea that tpab was some next level shyt. If people would have been like "it's a cool album that discusses social issues" the bashing wouldn't have been as bad.
Okay an opinion is an opinion. WHAT do YOU THINK is a NEXT LEVEL ALBUM? Give us an idea what the blueprint is for that.

Something to consider, most next level albums are misunderstood & then later appreciated. This shyt is way early to analyze if it is next level, imo. Immediately when the snippets came out, it was judged, dont pretend like it wasn't. :sas2:

"anything I can relate to because I'm a simp"
"anything with 808s and heavy synths, filtered out and watered down 40 style...so it won't be too much for my cac friends"
"anything HOT"

Stop trying to be logical with soft brehs, dudes who think Drake will get them p*ssy somehow, and fans of Travis c00n scott who think loose bullshyt is innovative.

PWOWR was a next level album, only thing that stopped it from being a classic was the length. There's literally nothing that could be misunderstood with it. And it's been out for what, 6months? I doubt it sounds any better now. I remember people posting about how the chick moaning on one of the songs was next level stuff.lol.

I find it strange that the minute Kendrick starts going abstract, people rebel like he is meant to just stay on the block, reminisce about lowriders, drinkin hen, handlebar bikes, hint to altercations of being around shooters and throw up signs for his whole life. I think Kendrick realized the trap quickly. He didn't want to be moved to the shelf of this one topic "G-Talk"

In the same way that Scarface saw shock rap was a passing fad QUICKLY & he moved away from it swiftly.

I can only imagine what some fukks would say if Gil Scott Heron was on TDE & he released this:

I really think we would have people on the Coli immediately say "What is this shyt" Meanwhile Heron has some of the best songwriting (songs & poems) ever put to record for seventies covering a number of issues & topics including family, politics, poverty, addiction, madness, depression"

I guess what I'm trying to say is, a pioneer (or someone who strives to be) doesnt take the path of least resistance. Part of the appeal of Kendrick, you dont know what his project is going to sound like. I look forward to what Kendrick does in the next outing. And I pray, it isnt a sequel to GKMC,

It is way early to write off Kendrick, the fact is some of your favorite artists of Hip hop & other genres went nuts for this album, that says more than any person blasting it. But in the same way that Miles bytches Brew came out, people reacted like he betrayed the world of Jazz. GO Look at the reviews, "How could he do this" Same thing... not saying Kendrick is musical revolutionary like Miles, just the same reaction. Funny how patterns repeat... :francis:

I like KP but here's where I think that doesnt resonate w/ the public. If Kendrick did that, people would say he was on some "Psychedelic HOTEP" shyt. The reason why I think some people like the album more than they do GKMC is because of the records they were listening to gelled w/ the sound.

But heres something that might :ohhh:to your mind. What if the record you dismiss inspires your favorite artist indirectly to make something that you find "NEXT LEVEL"?

You know what? That kind of shyt happens all the time. And thats why an artist like Kendrick is important, a lot of people arent listening to Brainfeeder,KP records, etc. They only got time for one record, fam. That college life, exams, work life, perhaps children, that one record...that does what? It tells them the path they should be. And that record inspires that person to become an artist to make the NEXT LEVEL shyt for you. Kendrick may become that conduit for the music that will be in rotation on your stereo. :plays way out saxophone solo to K-Dot adlib: :banderas:

y'all nikkas don't know what y'all want...

talk about the problems get ostracized...

don't talk about the problems get criticized

make typical trap music get demonized

get on some pro black jazz/funk influenced real shyt and you still ain't happy...

the "real" hip hop fans are devil's advocates. dislike dog simply because he's popular. fucc the music tho, how can you not salute a blacc man using his position for positivity? how u mad at an anti gang message if u grew up in or around it? are you that comfortable in chaos?

Maybe you think this way, but lettuce not act like Coli knee grows don't bash Kendrick for everything else as well.
