I'm all for universal conscription on one condition:

Under no circumstances can politicians and/or their family get waivers from not serving outside of the most extreme disabilities. I think they should get less waivers and ways to get out of it than normal people.

That way, you know that these fukks will be scared to wage wars if their relatives have a chance of being killed in it.

Conscription works for countries without the military industrial complex that the US does.

I can see how it doesn't become army enlistment with the wars the US is constantly fighting.

I think you should be arguing for something more permanent...

Yet some of y’all so worried about getting Warren out the race...

might wanna focus on the golden fukkboi
I'm convinced he'll collapse sooner than later.

There's nothing there, there. He's an empty suit. The only thing he's selling is word salad, platitudes, and faux-charisma. He's trying to pawn himself off as a new-school JFK or Obama, and it's so transparent. His campaign will collapse under the weight of all the nothingness. He's in way too far over his head, and he'll either expose himself or get exposed badly.

Maybe not in NH but by the time Vegas is over with I really think people will see through his bullshyt.

Not to mention I've already been hearing Iowa voters say they found out he was gay after they voted and admitted they wouldn't have voted for him if they knew. I mean I don't care, but there's still a portion of the country that does.

He's also hiding some sketchy shyt on his record in regards to some racial things and he's trying really hard to act like he's got black support when he's got almost none.

Eh, it isn't even a bad proposal but Buttibot personifies the issues people have with technocrats.

Like the "expectation of service" is only something a privileged technocrat would think is a good idea.

He's an Ivy leaguer who attended a private high school and grew up on Notre Dame's campus so I see where his rationale behind the expectation comes from.

However, most universities aren't prestigious public/private schools. The EMUs and Wayne States of the world don't have those expectations nor should they. They pride themselves on being accessible to lower-income people, most of whom are the first-generation to attend university. From my experience, those students don't always have adults in their lives to help them apply for every available grant/scholarship/waiver when they presently apply for university, so adding another obstacle ridiculous.

Anyway, I generally agree that we should expand our national public service opportunities, but it's pretty clear somebody who didn't grow up privileged should spearhead the initiative.
All Facts.

Too late. He is weaponised. He is going to come back and destroy America. If not this year then 4 - 8 years from now.

And if the Dems dont have him, I can see him working his way into the GOP, despite their hatred of gays.

You are going to have to deal with Pete sooner or later.
This is definitely possible. I'm not even convinced he wants to be president, but he could definitely be trying to show that he's a viable option more years down the road to corporate interests and big money people. I kind of think he might be playing the long game. he's in over his head now, but I agree that he could become some kind of player in the future inside of this system if it doesn't get cleaned up.
