The beautiful thing about Indian food in India is that there are PLENTY of restaurants inside and off the street to the point where you don't have to visit not ONE goop scoop stand and risk shytting your stomach lining violently out ya ass from the nature of the food. But attention and clout sells, so the inherent nastiness of it always gets views.

You're out of your mind if you don't think the same things happen in the kitchens. :dead:

We got an issue of rats in New York, La, and Chicago despite having inherently impeccable food safety standards and high penalties for non-compliance. Now what do you think a mumbai restaurant is working with in an environment where the penalties can be paid away with a bribe? :pachaha:

You guys are more open minded than I thought.

No way in hell I’m trying Indian food. Don’t even buy their frozen dinners at supermarkets. Nah.

That level of nastiness is pervasive and isn’t all jokes.

I guess I had to say specific kitchens in India or the ones around the more tourist centric areas?
I'm not naive enough to think that an Indian from India's India is going to be more hygienic cause he inside four walls and got a menu and possible facebook page. Just cause I'm gonna get a receipt instead of a newspaper full of Onion Bhaji dipped in ChandraPaul Chirag sauce don't mean I'm gonna be safe from a nation that's being potty trained to this day.
But you lessen the chance of getting super Cholera if you do some due diligence rather than just showing up, is all I'm sayin' when it comes to Indian food....in India.

not taking that chance and indian is my favourite cuisine. i had to train an offshore team in bangalore some years ago and wouldn't even eat a mcdonalds. what i did allow for was my coworkers offering to invite me to their homes and cooking for me. which i accepted, where i could assess the cleanliness of their environment and their cooking practices. it also helps they were westernised, middle class, and professional which eased some of the tensions as well as them living in newer high rises. was only there for three days and had two separate co-workers invite me to their homes to cook and the the third day they both brought me prepared food from home after i got comfortable. had no problems. and the food was exquisite.
