i can afford both. cash too. So let's say these are my options

brand new 2019 Honda Accord Sport, 0 miles for $26K MSRP for vs 2016 Honda Accord Sport 18K miles for $23K

I can knock the price down off the new car with dealer incentives and the price of the used car would go up for an extended warranty. but taking that away, the difference is only $3K. why wouldn't I go new?
Go new

That used means its gonna be sooner rather than later you hit the 60k miles mark
Sooner than later you gotta change tires

Also that battery if its OG, dying sooner than later, especially if its a 2016

Dave Ramseys advice applies to luxury or higher priced cars imo, you getting a honda

Plus you said you can afford the 3k increase so why not

The Truth
“Certified” don’t mean nothing but a higher price tag.

The warranty goes with the car. They are charging OP an extra $7K just to say their mechanic checked it out. You can get any car checked out before you buy it for ~$100
This actually helped quite a bit

I thought certified meant shyt.

I spent $34.2K before taxes on my new car in March of this year and according to KBB if I sold it today with only 3K miles on it I'd get $29K. It lost almost 15% of it's value and it's in virtually brand new condition.

Fully loaded Civic Hybrid Hatchback so it's a car that allegedly holds it's value well. Cars are a scam.

Used cars are overpriced af now.however you should still get a low mileage 2-3 years old car if you can
