As a swordsman, I'm telling you right now... you are gonna get yourself stabbed.
Dirks, knives and butterflies are more difficult to disarm than long blades because they require less telegraphing.

Even a flailing person with no edged training is likely to stab a trained person attempting a grapple because even erratic movement is highly effective with an edged weapon against an unarmed opponent or any opponent attempting to close distance. And unlike hand to hand which requires positioning to be effective, a blade is just as dangerous from an opponent you have knocked down, mounted, or otherwise disoriented.

The other thing is, hand to hand fighters always go for the wrists cause its effective in martial arts. But If you hold a pencil in your right hand and grab your right wrist with your left hand you will immediately see how vulnerable you are to that pencil despite having wrist control.

The worst thing you can do is grapple a person with a weapon. The guy is stabbing another female, lunge at him and kick him, pull the girl away, and get the f*ck out of there while yellin' for cops if you ain't 'bout that, or if you are 'bout that, keep fighting distance, and everytime he tries to get close kick him low, eventually he's gonna f*ck up and that's when you go for a head shot, but never, NEVER grapple a person with a weapon. With all that said, yes, if the guy is a pro with the knife, you don't stand a chance, best to just report that sh*t to the police

The murder sounded personal as most stabbing deaths have a relationship of some kind.

As for knife disarmament, this isn't Game of Thrones where people can just fight knife wielders and win. Not everyone is built for armed combat, and as a grappler, sure I could throw the guy and possibly subdue him, but I could get a mortal wound in the process. Then I'm dead over a situation that didn't need for me to be involved.....

The shock of a possible murder probably stopped most people in their tracks.

Reminds me of dude in NY who sat there and filmed the girl getting raped on the subway a few weeks ago. Honestly though if you're not built like that what are you supposed to do? I saw this a few days ago and it made me sad. Not even her laying there, but all of those adults filming it like it was a show, and no one was shocked. People in Chicago are literally sick. I heard on fb the chock gave him aids or something like that though.
