I think the thing that made Ashton and Mila look so bad is that little campaign they did trying to make it seem like Danny wasn’t who he was and then come to find out it’s EXACTLY who he is.
Honestly, after that backfire, they needed to just fade away into the background to avoid further entanglements. The fact the keep mixing themselves in with this type of business means, to me at least, they’re aware of the abusive predatory nature of their friends but not speaking out against it
