That's Kukulcan pyramid in Chichen Itza. Mayans built it. They stop letting people walk up the steps in 2006 when somebody fell down the steps and died.

I went a couple years back, it was one of the longest days of my life, waking up at the butt crack of dawn (5-6am) to catch the shuttle to ride a bus. We didn't get back to the resort until after midnight. If you go, take your own private tour
