I never got the whole black people and water Mellon and fried chicken thing...im from the south, EVERYBODY loves fried chicken and water Mellon!!
When freed slaves tried to make a living for themselves, they grew and sold watermelon. Of course, being fukkin evil at the time, cacs would make fun of them by accusing them of eating their own products rather than selling it.

Hundreds of years later that stereotype, which was kept alive through things like minstrel shows, is still alive.

2013-2015 was only 8-6 years ago. Yet, it seemed like a completely different world.:picard:

Yeah, it's insane how the things you could say or do when I was in high school can get you taken off the board now.

It's weird because 1993 to 2001 feels like a long time to me. 2003 to 2011 feels like a long time. But 2013 to 2021 doesn't, and I only remember that it is when I think about the people I was talking to in 2013, the things I was doing in 2013, and what I was watching in 2013. Then you realize it's been eight years since then and the times have changed something fierce. :damn:

The technology changes between 1993 to 2011 was pretty big but the cultural changes weren't. 2013 to 2021 had a lot of advancements in technology but even more advancements in cultural attitudes. We have to thank Trump for a lot of those rapid cultural shifts :francis:.

That's true 100%. Trump getting elected caused a major energy shift. That was the same year Kaepernick started kneeling and those two events exposed a lot of people's true feelings. You couldn't put the lid back on after that. :francis:

dam, I didn't know
Can't find the video.
Here's a quote from the comedy special though

Donald Glover said:
I like to date the black girls of every culture, you know. Like Filipinos. They’re like the black girls of Asians. Armenians, who’s like the black girls of white girls. And I was dating this Armenian and… Someone’s racist. Armenians! Oh, God, but seriously, who were you dating? I was… No, I was dating this Armenian girl and we were making sex. I was having sex with her. I know, I wish I could start every sentence that way. Just like, “I was having sex with this girl, and enjoy ‘Black Swan. “Oh, I liked that. I liked the part where he said he was having sex.” But I was having sex with her and we were towards… towards the end, and she goes, “fukk me harder with that N-word dikk.” And I stop, look at her right in the eye… and I came harder than I’ve ever come… before. It was so awesome, you guys, it was so great. Like, I was like, wha? Like, I couldn’t believe it. Like, it was almost worth being black my entire life. It was so great. It was so great, I actually felt bad for white dudes, I felt bad. I was like, you guys’ll never have that! You’ll never have that… what do you guys have? “Cracker dikk”? That’s not… That’s not sexy at all. That sounds like a virus you pick up on a cruise ship. Like, yeah, you’ve got cracker dikk.

And yeah, I already didn't like him THAT MUCH but this joke in particular kinda sealed the deal.
Haven't really listened to bro much since then, never really cared for his raps either.
