crusades time period got some crazy ass stories.
I remember reading about some dumbass religious leader who travelled with the army was accused of faking the holy lance, so he did a trial by fire. ( they built up a huge roaring fire and he had to walk thru it) It was his idea.
the gist was if God healed him within a few days then the holy lance he produced was the real one used to pierce Jesus’ side.
Obviously he died within a couple days
