However, it's because that they are preyed upon by those aforementioned animals that makes them dangerous. Just like wild boars (There's a reason that many European and Asian cultures that encountered boars, respected them and sometimes made boars their totem).
Some Senegambian families made the Warthog their totem as they symbolize courage and leadership in Serer mythology.
