I’ve spoken on this here before, but one of my first times in county jail as a youngin, it was either 17 or 18 yrs old

I was in the 50+ man pod and befriended a cat who went by Waco, 19 yrs old with gold perms in lockup lol

The prosecutor recommended and they gave him 30 YEARS for 30 cookies of crack

first offense, and the kid signed for 30 with possibility of parole after 10-15 with good behavior etc IIRC

at only 19, smh, it was either that or take it to trial and risk LIFE imprisonment

He had a public defender and no support from his family, he was still awaiting transfer to prison when I got out

I was in there for 30 days on a weed charge smh

I’ll never forget that interaction or others like it I’ve had/seen

I don't think people realize the difference in how minorities and whites do in court with public defenders. These white judges have empanty for their own, and always believe another white man has the potential to turn his life around. They do NOT have any empathy for us, and will never see themselves in us. The only way a black man would get a deal like this is with a well paid attorney, which is why I encourage black people to stop playing around with money, and always have a stack ready to hire an attorney for any court case, unless it's traffic court, and make sure you pay your damn tickets, because they will lock you up if you get pulled over again, then you're paying the 1st ticket, 2nd ticket, AND paying to get out of jail.

I met a black man at work years ago whose white girlfriend is a NYC public defender, and she said the system goes after young black boys purposely trying to get them in prison at a young age. If they didn't do anything outside, then the chances of them getting a charge inside are high due to fights inside, which add on to the sentence. It is not safe for us out there, and it makes me mad as hell when I see men talking about putting babies in women as if bringing a life into the world isn't a big deal. We cannot afford to not have money, because the chances of us getting wrongly accused or a higher sentence are high. Of course, don't break the law, and do bad things anyway.

In Chicago one of mayor Daley’s nephews sucker punched someone and killed him. They pulled all kinds of strings for him, from the moment the police found out who he was all the way to the prosecutors/judge etc.
