Whatever schools allowed these projects weren't around when I was attending.
Wasn't there recently a petition by a high school in Missouri to start slavery again? I wonder if this is related.

Exactly. I always remember that old clip of that white woman jane Eliot talking to a crowd of white people who believed black people had it just as good as them in society. She simply turned to them and asked, “ok then, which one of you would volunteer to live like a black person ?” camera then pans and it’s nothing but crickets in the audience.Well, if she really feel that way, then she can always volunteer to become a slave.
