We'll find anything to hold on to. I understand the history and what we endured in projects like Marcy (NY), Mission Hill (Boston, MA), Murphy Homes (Baltimore, MD). Due to living in these predominantly back dwellings, we have context there. Now we see a white woman shows up and feels safe enough to harlem shake and frolic like nothing ever happened. But get this, shouldn't we want more. Stop holding onto the violence and suffering that made these places "great" and hold on to a future you can create for yourself. We get so tied up in disbelief that white folks are taking these urban treasures, we forget they weren't treasures from the onset.
And for those who will misconstrue my last comment, I am not talking about the people in the dwelling. We shine bright no matter where you go. I am saying the luxury (treasure) of a Marcy projects is far from being 5 star.
