Thanks for sharing all this but the bolded had meSince i posted in this thread earlier I had three interactions with white people at work today related to the election.
First my team lead, white woman late 50s, single, never married, no kids, super scrappy by nature, Democrat, etc.. She was mad to the point of illness. I was joking with her too telling her I'm going to Q'doba to make myself great again. She asked me to stop joking about it and she always appreciates my humor but not today. She looked like a wreck. Talkin bout she wont watch the news for the next four years. She simply cannot believe how much people hate Hillary. Blames it on misogyny, but does acknowledge Hillary's shortcomings.
My director, white dude, moderate Republican, married for 30 years, suburban, three college daughters in school, etc.. He and I talk politics, but only the mechanics of. We dont debate one another, just have general conversation. I'm a firm believer in not discussing race, religion, politics, etc., at work. I think he's the same, so we skirt around the meat although I get the feeling our views are very similar. He leveled with me that he couldnt see voting for Trump and was leaning towards Johnson, but definitely not Hillary. Today we just chuckled about the polls being so off. He joked that the pollsters need to get deeper into the woods cuz apparently there's plenty voters back there. He was legitimately shocked and I get the feeling a lot of moderate GOPers are surprised as well.
Lastly, a white colleague, female, early thirties, college educated, single, definition of career girl but maintains a healthy social life, etc.. My work is health care related, and she was joking with me about recieving yet another transgender situation. Apparently transgender treatment, hormone therapy, etc., is all the rage. I joked with her that maybe these folks were looking to get changed before the holidays. She laughed and then with a serious tone said, "or before America becomes great again in January." We both chuckled, but it definitely wasnt jolly. She's definitely not feeling Trump.
Don't care about work, we don't discuss politics and All the people at work could tell I wasn't having it today, so they kept quiet. The sh1t for me is my wife, she is fukking devastated, and I can't deal with it, I'm gonna be miserable as long as she is so upset. I told my daughter today, just because trump won, it doesn't mean that the boys at school (she is a junior) can act a certain way towards her, or they have to deal with me. Hopefully I don't end up on world star taking the beats from a teenager, these kids nowadays are on steroids or some sh1t
Thanks for sharing all this but the bolded had me![]()
....my girl said she got sick too. was depressed and had diarhea after seeing 240+ for trump. She was watching cnn all night long and apparently wolf blitzer and john kings anxiety transcended television and caught up with a lot of people lol. I had adreamnightmare he won 2 weeks ago and woke up. That helped me deal with this new reality we face.
My wife and I are are white. She is dissapointed and physically ill over this sh1tI'm assuming both of your GFs are Black? I mentioned earlier the Black women on my job and a few I've talked to outside of work are hurt over this. To be honest with you, I dont get it? Maybe as a Black man I'm that cynical and predisposed to having a fukk it mentality? I dont know. I had to tell a very dear woman that I why I cant say I share the same concerns as her, at least not how she expresses it, not to think I'm dismissing her either. I feel for her as she's a long time friend. I respect you brothers too for empathizing with your partners. Thats as a stand up as it gets, and the true definition of being a real man. Teaching your daughters self respect, courage, and dignity is a beautiful thing as well.
I just wish I could say my anxiety is the same, but I cant.

Can I ask, why? I'm not one of those cac this or cac that either posters. But why the extreme anxiety? You two should be good regardless?

I have a lot of poeple in my life, friends, family, co workers of different nationalities, multi cultural, different religions, etc.. and when my loved ones are in distress, and my team at work is stressed out, it affects me. I wasn't a fan of either candidate really, but at the end of the day, raising a daughter in this day and age is hard enough, but the school district my daughter is in is predominantly white upper class, and I think Trumps behaviour towards women in general has been diguisting and I am afraid that his past behaviour will fuel teenagers in the demographic that she is exposed to to act even more dispicable and entitled. My wife and I are both from humble beginnings, and to see people I grew up with, or people also from humble beginnings, act like they will now have a seat at the table is laughable. Believe me, I know white privilege is a thing, I do realize that the white man in America and white women got that matter already have a leg up, but to think Trump gives a fukk about the working class in America is ridiculous. My wife is really my best friend, she keeps it real as fukk with me, and she worked her a$$ off, put herself through nursing school as a single mother before we got together, had leukemia like 6 years ago, had to get a stem cell transplant, went into liver failure as a result of a negetive reaction to one of the steroids, and because of that her bones were heavily damaged in all of her major joints and because she was a single mother, had to continue to work full time as a home care nurse before she could get her hip replacements (bone on bone) 50+ hours a week. She never took a government hand out, not one time. I have tremendous respect for women, my mother, my wife, my daughter. She is far from a femme nazi, but with possibly 3 support court appointees , she is very afraid that that the issues she cares about the most (roe vs wade, equal civil rights for all, etc..) are now in limbo, and it gives her a lot of anxiety. I just got my xanax refilled this evevinh, so I will get through, just needed to ventCan I ask, why? I'm not one of those cac this or cac that either posters. But why the extreme anxiety?
