After people ordered their drinks and drove up to the window, barista Vu Nguyen explained that the drink had already been paid for and asked if they'd like to return the favor. In total, 378 people agreed to keep it going.

Yeah they do that at the drive thru sometimes. I chose not to pay for the customer behind me. That way my drink really was free.

i only go to starbucks to waste gift cards people give me. usually to take a chick out on a first date or a friend who does something for me. i don't even like coffee that much. i sure as hell ain't giving them my own legal tender.
