We let the Revolution be televised so we could gain white acceptance, now they are commercializing Black suffering for profit :blessed:
People were complaining saying that black folks celebrate Cinco De Mayo or July 4th but don’t care about Juneteenth. I remember when all Juneteenth was was a person yelling stuff into a mic on stage and like 5 vendors…. 3 of them sold like soaps and oils. Should’ve kept it on the low if people are going to complain about it being commercialized now. Every single holiday is commercialized.. Why would Juneteenth be and different?

People weren’t even celebrating Juneteenth like that 5 years ago.. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. It is what it is
Speak for yourself nikka

It was in Texas and those of us in the west who are descendents of those Texans

we celebrated especially as juneteenth specifically was about us.

:mjlol: exactly my point.

The holiday didn't apply to yall nor was it about yall.
Just saying man that people weren’t celebrating it like that a few years ago. I’m not from Texas and can’t talk about Texas. I’ve lived in Ga, SC, and NC in the past 12 years and it was always a smaller celebration before it got commercialized. I’m not even trying to start an argument or anything.. People were online begging for it to be a bigger deal, then as soon as it becomes a bigger deal the same people are mad. Make it make sense.

"Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom enslaved people in Texas.[7]" - from wikipedia(hate using them but I'm lazy rn)

Of course u haven't seen it, ur living in states of people where the occasion did not apply nor did it pertain to them

It did to Texans as they the primary focus

And those of us who r descendents of them in the West who live in LA, Oakland, Phoenix, Seattle, Compton

I am. I probably should've mentioned it, but the yt people here are also selling juneteenth and blm merchandise at the festival. So, essentially, they're making money off it too. just doesn't feel right :francis:

Dude when I was leaving the festival I was at, down by where the cars were parked at was one lone cac selling something :laff:

Nobody was patronizing him but I almost wanted to walk up to him and ask him what he was selling:mjlol:
