The majority of the prime minister's of Jamaica are/were mulattoes. Even the more popular anchorwomen and anchormen are mulattoes. The majority of the miss Jamaica winners have been racially ambiguous/bi-racial, non-black. During colonial times mulattoes were a buffer class. Only mulattoes could obtain high levels in government. Black people were usually relegated to manual labor or servers. Social mobility is associated with a lighter complexion. People in Jamaica think you live in a nice neighborhood, have wealth all because your skin is lighter. I haven't even mentioned slavery yet and it's adverse effects that are unique to Jamaica. So anti-blackness is ingrained in the culture. Another thing is just because somebody doesn't bleach their skin that doesn't translate into an absence of self-hate. There are people who hate themselves just as much or worse than those who choose to bleach their skin. It's just that their self hate manifests itself in differently.

They actually spoke on this on the documentary but I guess y'all didn't watch the video lol.

I watched it and there wasn't any mention of the prime minister's being primarily mulatto nor the Miss Jamaica winners primarily being non-black/racial ambiguous/bi-racial. Nor the buffer class point. They did make mentions of field slave vs house slave narrative. They also didn't make mention of black people being relegated to manual labor and services. They did make mention of social mobility being associated with lighter complexions. Along with everything else I mentioned. So I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

I know, yet none of these things are being discussed itt so did y'all even watch the video or y'all just wanted to come here to say Jamaicans are c00ns, that's what I'm talking about.

That sentence of along with everything mentioned was a mistake. I meant to say "along with everything else I mentioned wasn't in the video. The point of my post was to explain how historical factors outside of what was mentioned weighs on someone's mind and how it'll eventually transmute into self hate and ultimately skin bleaching. If I wanted to call all Jamaicans c00n's I would've. I don't even understand how you pulled that out of the intent in my post(s). You're weird.

Anyway if they acknowledged social mobility is associated with lighter skin then all that other shyt goes without saying.

I thought it was clear I wasn't talking about you in particular. I'll make it more obvious for you next time.

Isn't 75 percent of the population lower/working class (poor) in Jamaica ?
I don't know the actual figures but it is not as high as 75%

The unemployment rate especially in the urban areas for youth is extremely high tho
