Differnce is this is voluntary and only if they want, plus they have equal resources/living arrangements
:patrice: You sure...and for how long...

The thing is equality of living arrangements is very subjective especially when youre dealing with overpampered SJW whiners...i can predict there will soon be complaints about something...from how much longer it takes maintenance to come to the "black" dorms to fix things...
if campus security is hands off and theft goes up it will be "Oh look theyre neglecting us"..if they patrol more " Oh look theyre profiling us"

The colleges are turning kids into special little snowflakes when they should be preparing these kids for LIFE where egalitarianism doesnt happen....you will meet and have to deal with people who dont look like you, think like you hell they may not even like you at all..learning to deal with them is a skill.

The best the school can do is offer equality of opportunity..everyone getting the same course ,tests,books[/QUOTE]

Black-focused housing at Cal State L.A. draws criticism, but it's nothing new

Cal State L.A. said the housing is hardly unique and shuts no one out.

“This community is open to all students,” said Cal State L.A. spokesman Robert Lopez. “This living-learning community focuses on academic excellence and learning experiences that are inclusive and non-discriminatory.”

The article referenced themed student housing at California State University at Los Angeles (CSULA), a campus that in Fall 2016 introduced the Halisi Scholars Black Living-Learning Community. As CSULA's web site notes, however, that community is not technically "segregated" by being exclusive to black students. Rather, it is designated as housing open to any student interested in matters relating to the black community

Living-Learning Communities are nothing new, and they're not a form of segregation.

Please stop letting stupid people shape your opinions and actually read for once.

You sound like a white dude by calling them social justice whiners. These are black kids who pushed for a space where they could feel at home at a predominately white campus

Im not white...

...and you have to define what you mean by " their own space" ..if you mean feel at home you make the assumption that they all live in exclusively black neighborhoods...i suspect that is wrong ..the last data i saw said alot of the Black kids who do go to college are from the middle class burbs
Second you miss the fact that they CHOSE to go to that college..they could have gone to a HBCU if they felt so strongly about the issue

finally how does this address my biggest criticism which is HOW will this help them learn to deal with the real world
 You think after college and they start looking for work theyll go to Bank of America and say "I cant work here without a safe space"

Stop conflating issues....Thats clearly not what we are discussing in general..here is an example

Doesnt matter that they they have a "gentler form" in LA but the basic Idea is still wrong

Have you ever attended a predominately white college? If you did you would understand by "space" i was not referencing their home neighborhoods, but instead a spot on campus where they wouldn't always have to deal with the adversity of being a black person on campus.

Just because you go to an institution of higher learning doesn't mean you should have to alway deal with bs. The student body has the ability to demand things from its school and they did just that so good for them. Choosing not to go to an HBCU as a poc shouldn't disqualify you from having a space of your own on campus.

Also, they obviously do know how to deal with the real world as they do that everyday on campus (class, dining hall, walking around, gyms) so having a spot with like minded people to them isn't a bad thing

I support this, I went to a UC and they had this

It's not a safe space and it's not segregation, it's not that serious, people are blowing it way out of proportion

So campus administration ignored incidents of discrimination and harassment by corralling them together per request instead? Defeats the purpose of the college experience and a safe learning environment. I would be more concerned about students being harassed by other students or campus police and try to implement policies to correct and reprimand people.

Aside: In retrospect, as black student at a PWI would make a request to live amongst the rich Asian kids, international students and "real" White students who came from academies like Landon School and St. Annes-Belfield School. :mjpls: The fukkery experienced with the likes of Howie Long's drunk ass idgaf sons and Duke Lacrosse team players:ohlawd: and those post-grad career connections and networks. :whew: fukk a career fair when you can pass your resume to your bro's dad's friend for an internship :banderas:. I did the shyt wrong by working hard and keeping it real; work smart, not hard kids!
