It's always business, never personal. I wonder if Caleb knew who he was though. Honestly, Caleb needs a few more seasons and performances under his belt before even thinking about doing something like this

It’s not about the money. He’s been known as the Iceman for 4 decades plus.

If Williams want to call himself that it’s whatever. But to try and trademark it and potentially affect Gervin is some fakkit shyt. Nevermind the fact he hasn’t earn the right to call himself anything.

i understand what the OG iceman means culturally. but it is about money. that's exactly why he's filing for the trademark now, because he thought culture would protect him when others saw business opportunity. how many times do we have to lose that fight before we protect ourselves?

you think it wasn't about money when all those brands were using gervin's nickname to create bigger profit margins for themselves? you think what nike paid him to put "iceman" on the back of some blazers was fair compensation when compared to what it probably netted them? imo, if a bunch of talking heads wanna start calling caleb iceman (he didnt give himself the name), i dont blame him one bit for trying to take ownership of his brand identity. especially in this era, when literally anyone can build an instagram/amazon storefront and profit off something that has nothing to do with them.

that said... regardless of who gets the trademark, it would be dope as fukk if OG and YG worked together. turning iceman into a torch that gets passed down to only the coldest, no matter what walk of life they travel (NBA, NFL, X-Men, etc)... there's a A-Tier brand launch in there if they ignore the collective twitter fingers, get the business right and build that shyt out properly.

I'm glad you point that out. NONE of those companies trademarked the name out of respect. Gervin still ate. But at the end of the day, it's about legacy, recognition and status. Trademarking a name that been apart of someone's legacy for over 4 decades is disrespectful as hell. He could've still made money without trademarking it. A black man snaking another black mans legacy is some trifling ass shyt.

Caleb obviously has no clue who Gervin is, nor should he to be honest.

That being said, I don't think the nickname is appropriate for him regardless
