It's not about killing for them leaving, so much as it would be a matter of forcing them to stay at gunpoint if it heads that route. Are all those soldiers willing to defy direct orders to fight? We have a lot of people here not wanting what they're about to get. Less than 20% of the population voted for trump, with many not voting for him because they know the dangers someone like him presents to a democracy. Between that and the GOP bragging about suppressing the black vote, going obstructionist on Obama for 8 years and then expecting everyone to be willing to compromise with them, and seeing an overtly racist and fascist administration coming too, I wouldn't be shocked if other states or large groups of people in them try to push for breaking off.
