How are y’all affording the Cali life?


I just visited Oakland, Berkeley and San Fran. Gas, rent, pretty much everything is expensive as fukk. How y’all affording it? I’ve been contemplating moving to another state…and I love the sunshine, the liberal vibe, and the friendliness (also very subtle racism).

My biggest fear is moving somewhere, going broke and having to move back home. How are y’all succeeding over there in Cali?

There's lots of jobs paying 100k in the bay. That's almost standard. Buying a house there is what's really tough

Ask the New Yorkers how they make it there. Them mfs can't even drive down the block without getting tolled $45. Thankfully their transit is decent.

Otherwise, most young people I know are roomed up like 4 to an apartment or living out of their car.

Small business, longshoreman, PG&E pays pretty good.

All the money is in the bay. Certain careers might be better in LA. San Diego is my favorite but the hardest to afford because the job market ain't so great but the housing is still super expensive. There's some smaller places you might like if that's your thing.

My parents and teachers made us do the math on how much we had to make to live here. Once you budget it out you realize there ain’t no way you’re living here off minimum wage. Once you realize that you either do what you have to do or you leave

You’ll make good money as an RN here. All my homies that are RNs live very comfortably.
