I’m not from there so I don’t really want to go there on that accord.

Well I’m a RN, I think I could make good money there but I don’t want to overestimate myself.
My bad I forgot to add that I’m in the bay. There are cheaper places to live around here, but you’re more than likely going to have to commute (at least 1 hour) unless you WFH. I’ve done a fair share of traveling in the US, and honestly feel blessed that I was born here. I understand why people wouldn’t want to live here tho.

You’ll make good money as an RN here. All my homies that are RNs live very comfortably.
Do they live in or close to a major city like SD or LA? How feasible is it to live within an hour of work, taking rush hour traffic into account?

Yea some of my homies live in LA and work at Cedars Sinai. They live in weho or surrounding areas. Some live an hour out and commute to LA. Most people here commute, so an hour commute isn’t too bad. Me personally, I would try to live as close to work as possible. As you know traffic can be horrible here.

and I love the sunshine, the liberal vibe, and the friendliness (also very subtle racism).
Try Arizona. Has everything you listed minus the ocean. And is much cheaper.

Racism there is more targeted at Hispanics and natives than the few black people

Everyone’s needs are different, but after doing the math (factoring in some luxuries i.e. good food/alch, decent spot, car payment) $150k will have you straight here. I’m sure you can live comfortably off 120k as well.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
How are y’all affording the Cali life?

I just visited Oakland, Berkeley and San Fran. Gas, rent, pretty much everything is expensive as fukk. How y’all affording it? I’ve been contemplating moving to another state…and I love the sunshine, the liberal vibe, and the friendliness (also very subtle racism).

My biggest fear is moving somewhere, going broke and having to move back home. How are y’all succeeding over there in Cali?
They have jobs bro.

Thats literally a New Jersey joke.

NYC you have a choice not to have a car.
You don't need a car in Jersey either. But if you did and you're driving from North Bergen to Newark, you won't have to deal with wild traffic or tolls as long as you don't get on the Turnpike.

Compare that to going borough to borough in NYC. I already said the NYC transit was nice anyway :camby:
