It's amazes me how much people hate Calipari, when he has always looked out for his players and for the community. You never see him asking a kid to come back when he's a top 10 pick and cost him millions (Roy and WackAdoo) and you never see him put the university over his players. There's a reason his book is called players first, he has lived by that mantra his whole career, that's why he has the success he does, especially in recruiting. John Wall, Anthony Davis, MKG, T Jones, PPatt, Boogie all his former UK players come back to Lexington during the offseason EVERY year, they love Coach Cal because he had their back, if you can't see that you're dumb as rocks
Coach Cal keeps it real and cares about his players above everything else, that's why kids want to play for him. He goes into STAR recruits houses and tells them he won't guarantee them playing time and that they'll have to work for it, no other coach does this, He doesn't sugar coat anything, he tells it like it is and the recruits pick up on that.
You act like Cal is the only one who does this stuff. UNC Alumni vs squad games are always filled with former players coming back during the offseason EVERY year. Any elite coach worth a damn doesn't guarantee a player anything. It's why Roy get a handful of Burger Boys every year at UNC and holds true to his upper classman mantra and make them sit on the bench and earn their minutes. I like Cal, but to act like he's reinvented the wheel is untrue.
