Work on networking as well, more folks are hired because of who they know not what they know. Replace chasing baddies with networking events. Go there, fit in, develop friendships, find a mentor in your field. Work on your professional image and how you present to others. That first impression starts the moment they see you. Baddies ain't gonna do nothing but drain your pockets and waste your time taking you away from perfecting your craft. Join any professional organizations you can in your field. Find the students in your field that already have family connections. Exploit those too. Build yourself to the best man you can be. How can you be a king without a kingdom?
