Vocal tonality? Off key? You getting overly technical with this shyt on some dork shyt. Hip hop ain't something where you sit down with a pen and paper and grade the vocal tonality, its something you feel. If you've been listening as long as I have and have the breadth of knowledge that I do you can just hear when an emcee's killing it.

CHWM Cam ain't as technically precise as the Cam on Big L's album. And I don't think I heard any COC material until after COF, so the theory of me liking early Cam goes in the bushes.

Basically. People love mentioning the COC Days as Cam's best to sound smart, but it lets you know they are novice when it comes to the technical ability of rapping. Cam wasn't anywhere near the MC then that he turned out to be 10 years later. COC Cam was a straight Ghostface and Kool G Rap biter. He said it himself cause those were his two favorite rappers at the time.

I disagree. And like I said, I'm not trying to claim like I was a big fan of Cam before COF dropped. His flow was more precise to me. That's big to me. If you appreciate other aspects of his emceeing in the 2000s, That's all good with me.

To be honest Mase was a better rapper than Cam in the mid 90's.

I wouldn't put Cam in the top 5 of the past 15 years, top 10 is more reasonable. Now if you narrow it down to east coast rapper's I would be inclined to agree.

Cam does have one definite classic, Confessions of Fire, but he has dropped some good-very good albums too, my other favorites are Purple Haze and SDE.

I was waiting for someone to call COF a classic!
