People can be great parents and not so great spouses. It isn’t mutually exclusive. Would you like it to be? Of course. Does it give a much higher chance to raise a successful family? Absolutely. But that doesn’t change that being one doesn’t mean you are the other. You can know someone’s character flaws and attributes that are in tune with being a parent and a provider but their flaws make them incompatible in a relationship.
