There are domestic leagues in almost every country like the format in Europe and even an equivalent to the Champions and Europa League between clubs from different countries. The thing is there is no money in those leagues to the extent of European leagues (i.e TV rights to broadcast, Sponsorships etc...) hence the reason why most African players opt to play overseas (especially) in Europe because of the financial compensation and prestige/rep/visibility.

Almost everything in that part of the world has to do with organization or in this case lack thereof. If people in charge and influence wanted to mobilize and make the domestic leagues viable they could. It's just African elites are some of the most morally bankrupt people in the world who lack vision.

CAF Champions league is already there but just like South America, travel distances can make it less lucrative. Only Egypt (before the crisis) and South Africa pay anywhere enough competitive salaries to get consistent domestic teams. North African teams like Esperance,Al Ahly,Zamalek, Etoile dominated the Champions league because their players don't play abroad. West African football is dominated by focusing on age group tournaments and then selling players abroad to Europe. There needs to be more money injected like millionaire ownership to get sustained domestic interest.

Yeah, southern african players are usually very fast and creative on the ball. Biggest weaknesses are physicality and finishing/focus.
