Meh

Outside of G1 against Dallas, Porzingis has given us nothing in the playoffs

Tatum & Brown still have their cold spells and bad habits, but I think they’ve also grown as players over the last 2-3 years

Not to mention that moving guys like Smart & Grant Williams was addition by subtraction

This is true but that's still one game he was the difference maker. iirc Jrue also had a Finals game where he was that too. So in a series vs the best team* they'd encountered all playoffs, where Tatum was often on his Paul George/James Harden ish, it didn't cost them.

*I didn't want to make my prev post longer/go down a rabbit hole, but i was gonna add to it that Boston also faced a worse East last year than they did their prior runs (not their fault, mind you) and they probably didn't even need those expensive additions to get through the East last year.

All to say that, how much of that was growth vs better supporting cast + a worse East last year? Honestly, they'll be able to quiet all the naysayers this series and onward.

Even if you want to argue the 2024 East was worse than 2022 & 2023, they were one win away from back to back Finals appearances those years so how much stock does it really have? I don’t really think the Celtics are the team in this series whose star players need to prove they‘re mentally tough enough to compete in this conference.

I mean is the 27 & 28 year old version of a player being more mature than the version of 2-3 years ago really some super crazy reach?

They won’t be able to quiet any naysayers because the goalposts will always move, that’s a pointless wish.

The NY Daily News or NY Post of the 90s and 2000s would have been much better with their back page headline. They would have had a picture of Bridges ripping the ball from Jaylen Brown, and the words 'Boston Strong?' We need those writers back.

They got a complication of Tatum of not being able to score off of mismatches. Some of these shots bricked so hard I feel bad for the rim :scusthov:
